Chinese President welcomes people to Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his warmest welcome to the world in a video during the eight-minute show at the closing ceremony of Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics

After the excitement of two weeks’ competition, the Winter Olympics drew to a close in the Olympic Stadium in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The ceremony went to a climax with the Beijing eight-minute show put on the stage.

“Together with all the Chinese people, I welcome friends from all over the world. See you in Beijing in 2022. A warm welcome to you all. A warm welcome to our friends,” said Xi in the video.

After the ceremony, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach declared the conclusion of the Games.

The Olympic flag was handed over by Bach to Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing, at the ceremony.

A total of 92 countries and regions have participated in the PyeongChang Olympic Games. Norway top the medal standings with 14 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals. China finished 16th with one gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals.
