Indian Foreign Minister calls on President of Myanmar in Naypyidaw

Indian Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj met President of Myanmar Win Myint on Thursday (May 10) in the latter's modern capital city Naypyidaw to boost bilateral ties.

Swaraj, who is on a two-day-visit to its eastern neighbour country, will hold discussions with its leaders on key issues, including Rohingya repatriation to further reinforce ties between the two countries.

Myanmar is one of India’s strategic neighbours and stands as the only ASEAN country adjoining India and is therefore considered its gateway to South East Asia, with which India seeks to deepen political and economic ties through its ‘Act East’ policy.
