Amitabh Bachchan interacts with hearing impaired in Mumbai

Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday (January 28) attended the three-month anniversary of an initiative by Bollywood producer Anand Pandit for providing hearing aid to the elderly or other hearing impaired people in India's entertainment capital Mumbai.

Pandit had launched the initiative last October with a private organization and has already managed to reach out to about 1,000 children after being inspired by the humanitarian activities conducted by his chief guest, Bachchan.

Bachchan narrated an incident from his childhood when he injured his hand with a firecracker and said he understands how it feels to not being able to use a part of the body for a while. He also added that if his presence could in any way help any noble cause, he would definitely come forward to extend a hand.

The function was also attended by Pandit and member of the ruling ‘Bhartiya Janata Party’, Kirit Somaiya, who, along with Bachchan and Pandit also distributed hearing aides to the elderly citizens.

Amitabh Bachchan who was ranked 18th in the list of highest-paid actors in the world last year, in a survey conducted by a magazine is well known for his humanitarian initiatives as well as non-profit campaignings in India. He is the face of the Polio eradication drive in India and United Nations ambassador for the ‘Girl Child’ and campaigns for the cause on both public and private platforms.
