France hostage taker wanted Paris attack suspect freed – BFM TV

The hostage taker in southern France, killed by police during the incident on Friday (March 23), had asked for the release of Paris November 2015 attacker Salah Abdeslam, BFM TV said, citing an anonymous source.

Abdeslam is the prime surviving suspect in the attacks in Paris that killed 130 people.

French police put down the gunman holed up in a supermarket in southern France where he had taken hostages earlier on Friday, a source close to the investigation said.

Two people were killed and three people were gravely injured during the hostage-taking incident, a source at the French Interior Ministry said, adding that the police operation was still ongoing.
