Hundreds of drones illuminate China’s skyline to celebrate Lantern Festival

People in northwest China's Xi'an city were treated to a drone light show as part of the Lantern Festival celebrations.

Hundreds of drones flew in formation, forming different shapes of icons and Chinese characters, lighting up the sky of the ancient silk road city.

Drone manufacturer and organiser of the event Ehang said 500 drones were employed in the 10-minute choreographed performance.

The Lantern Festival is celebrated annually on the first full moon night or fifteen days after the Chinese New Year. It also marks the end of Lunar New Year celebrations.
