“Spring is an inspiration of my journey,” said the designer.
“All the women that inspired me from Martha Graham to, you know, Katharine Graham to Elizabeth Taylor, to the people who are in my life at that time and the elegance of that time,” he added.
Known for his beading, Khan used his the collection to feature a range of embellishments.
“I’ve got beading that’s graffiti. I’ve got beading which is just very, very simple but with big ballgowns. But things are sprayed, things are painted – things are, there’s a lot of technique. It’s just not beading, it’s manipulation of fabrics made by hand.”
A soundtrack of 80s hits helped usher models down the catwalk in various silhouettes including ballgowns, shorts, column dresses.
Deep v-necks, high slits and fringe gave the collection a 70’s flare, while shoulder pads and high hemlines celebrated the 80s.
New York Fashion Week, previewing the latest looks for Spring 2019, concludes on Wednesday with a show in the borough of Brooklyn featuring pop superstar Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie line.
