Tips On How To Pick The Best Christmas Tree

Here's How You Can Prevent Fire Hazards This Holiday Season

By: Paige Hubbard

Buying a fresh Christmas tree can prevent fires and hazards from happening. This time of year the Houston Fire Department reports that fires increase due to flammable decorations and Christmas trees.

One thing you might want to do before purchasing your tree is to run your hand over the bow, if little to no pine needles come off, you’ve got yourself a fresh tree, if the opposite happens, you may want to continue to look around.

Another thing to remember is just like humans or any other plant Christmas Tress’s needs water and lots of it. They also need to be kept in cool environments. The Houston Garden Center sales a tree preservative to prolong the lifespan and make the tree rich in color.

Now, you can opt to buy an artificial tree, but they have hazards. Even though Christmas Tress’s are more prone to catching on fire, artificial tree’s are equally vulnerable. Some flame resistant artificial trees can eventually succumb to a fire as their resistance wears off when completely consumed in flames. By following the instructions on Christmas tree light packaging, you can determine how many light strings you can safely connect.

This holiday season, we hope that these few tips allow you to pick the best and safest tree for you and your family.
