NZ PM welcomes Facebook bans on white nationalism, separatism

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Thursday (March 28) that she welcomed Facebook Inc's decision to ban praise, support and representation of white nationalism and white separatism on its social media platforms.

Facebook’s ban was a shift in policy after criticism by civil rights groups that it was failing to confront extremism.

Ardern added that Britain’s Prince William would be visiting Christchurch in April to show his support for the Muslim community and the city in the wake of the attack.

On Friday (March 29) Ardern will attend a national remembrance service in Christchurch with diplomatic representatives from 59 countries.
