Hundreds gather to glimpse cricket World Cup in Islamabad

Hundreds of cricket fans descended on a shopping mall in the Pakistani capital on Friday (April 12) to catch a glimpse of the World Cup trophy.

Unveiling the trophy at a news conference on Thursday (April 11), Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed urged fans in the cricket-crazy country to make sure they had a photo taken with it while it tours the nation.

The trophy will arrive in Lahore on April 13, while a larger ceremony is being held in Karachi on April 14, where a concert, food festival, and fireworks have been arranged.

The 2019 World Cup will take place in England between May 30 to July 14 in England this year, with the first match pitting Australia against South Africa.

Pakistan will play their neighbors and rivals India on June 16.
