Thousands of Ajax fans celebrate their club’s 34th league title

Roughly 100,000 people packed Amsterdam's Museumplein public square as they celebrated Ajax's remarkable season that ended with an incredible Champions League run and a domestic league and cup double.

The crowd sang, danced, cheered and lit up flares as the smoke enveloped the fans with their heroes lifting trophies on the stage.

Ajax secured their 34th league title – a record for a Dutch team – after travelling to De Graafschap and beating them 4-1 on Wednesday (May 15) while clinching the KNVB Beker Cup final with a 4-0 win over Willem II 10 days earlier.

Local broadcaster NOS said 100,000 people attended the celebrations to mark the club’s first league win in five years.
