Lopez, who began her career as a dancer and singer, is also a film and television actress and producer.
Her first lead acting role was in the 1997 film “Selena” for which she received a Golden globe nomination. She then ventured into music with her debut album “On the 6” in 1999.
In 2002 Lopez released her third studio album “This is me… Then” with the lead single “Jenny from the Block” and later that year she starred in the film “Maid in Manhattan” which went on to be her highest-grossing film.
Lopez came back into the spotlight in 2012 as a judge on “American Idol”, after which she played the lead in television police drama “Shades of Blue” and became producer of the show “World of Dance”.
In 2018 she produced and starred in romantic comedy movie “Second Act.”
In 2012, Forbes named Lopez as the most powerful celebrity in the world, and the 38th most powerful woman.
Lopez married Latin pop singer Marc Anthony in June 2004, months after her engagement to actor Ben Affleck ended. The couple became parents to twins, Max and Emme in 2008 but filed for divorce in 2012, citing irreconcilable differences.
Lopez announced her engagement to former New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez in March 2019.
