Flooding hits desert state of Rajasthan, India

An area usually known to be a dry, desert state in India was swamped by flooding on Friday.

A police station and residential quarters in Rajasthan state witnessed continuous rain at a time of year that usually sees the highest temperatures.

Rescue teams also worked overnight on Thursday in Assam state after heavy flooding there.

The monsoon season has resulted in more than 300 deaths across South Asia. That number is expected to rise as several hundred people remain missing.
