FORT BEND COUNTY, TEXAS- On Monday, July 8, 2019, Fort Bend County Judge KP George alongside Precinct 4 Commissioner Ken DeMerchant made history by inaugurating the first County cricket field at the Four Corners Community Park in Sugar Land. The field is located at 15700 Old Richmond Rd, Sugar Land, Texas 77498.

“Since November 6, many members of our diverse community have approached my administration about recreational facilities that meet their needs. Cricket is one of the most widely played sports in Fort Bend County. From starting this conversation last November, to seeing children play on it this week, this was a vision and now a fulfilled promise. I encourage all to use this field for many, many years to come. In fact, you may see me there on a weekend practicing as well,” stated Judge George.

This is the first of many more multipurpose sports complexes that will include cricket pitches. This cricket field is a great opportunity for our children and youth to go outdoors, exercise and play one of the world’s most popular sports. Against the backdrop of the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup, opening this field for public use could not have had come at a better time. The Sugar Land Youth Cricket Club has already begun to book times for children to practice and play.

“The Cricket Field was a much awaited dream for the Four Corners community and I am proud to be a part of this historic moment. My personal favorite was bringing people together though sports,” said Commissioner DeMerchant.
