Texas Southern University has been a hot spot for 2020 presidential democratic candidates on the campaign trail.
Senator Kamala Harris held one of her rallies on the campus to share her vision if she were elected, shortly after candidate Beto O’Rourke followed suit and used the platform to do the same.
But now all democratic candidates will have an opportunity to visit the historic campus since TSU has been selected to be the hosting venue.
Mayor Turner and TSU’s president Dr. Lane held a press conference to officiate the announcement.
Dr. Lane says having the debate at TSU will have a long-lasting impact on student’s future by giving them a chance to have hands-on experience and internship opportunities.
because of limiting seating some students are concerned that they won’t be able to attend, however, Dr. Lane says he wants as many students as possible to be in attendance and they will even get first dibs on the tickets.
The debate will be held September 12-13th at the HP&E arena.
