Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury is the new charge that was filed against Vence on Monday by the Harris County District Attorney’s office.

He was set to appear in court today on those charges but the hearing was rescheduled. The new date is scheduled for September 16th.

The family of Maleah Davis says they are frustrated with the outcome.

“The fact that this man gets two $45,000 bonds for each charge that he has, I just feel like there is no justice, there is no justice being served,” said Tamisha Mendoza, Maleah’s cousin.

Many people are questioning why Vence isn’t being charged with murder. A spoke person from the Harris County District Attorney’s office says in order to charge Vence with murder they have to prove that Vence intended to kill Maleah.
