Going to the dentist may be a daunting task for humans, but not for hippo mother Marushka and her son Fanda who live in Prague Zoo.
Getting their teeth cleaned with the aid of a hose is a source of joy, their keepers say.
Zookeeper Jiri Svoboda says the 19-year old mother and three-year-old baby hippo find the experience “entertaining.
Zookeepers would often find food remains in their teeth and the foils of their mouth. In efforts to keep the Hippos happy and healthy, Zookeepers started using a water hose to wash away their leftovers.
Wild hippos, however, allow small birds and fish inside their mouth to carry out the task.
Once they are all done, the hippos get rewarded with carrots and lettuce for their good behavior.
So the next time you’re feeling anxious before your next doctor’s appointment, think about these two happy hippos. If they can do it so can you!
