The India House of Houston celebrates India’s 73rd independence day

The India House of Houston Hosted a celebration in honor of India’s 73rd Independence Day.

The day has been celebrated every day on August 15th since the first prime minister of India raised the Indian national flag above the Lahori Gate in Dehli.

Decades later the tradition carries on all over the world with flag-raising ceremonies and fellowship.

NTV Houston had the pleasure of covering the celebration, where many people from the Indian community came together to honor their cultural heritage and tradition.

The ceremony gave the Houston area Indian community a taste of being at home with dances, singing, and catered traditional foods.

Many people said they are happy that the holiday is celebrated here in Houston because it gives them a chance to connect with their roots and make them feel proud about where they came from.
