Trump: CNN anchor Cuomo ‘out of control’, former aid Scaramucci ‘neurotic wreck’

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday (August 13) that CNN anchor Chris Cuomo looked "out of control" after a video surfaced Monday night of Cuomo threatening a man for calling him "Fredo", a reference to the Godfather movies and which Cuomo said was an ethnic slur against his Italian-American heritage.

“I think Chris Cuomo was so out of control that I would not have wanted to see a weapon in his hand,” Trump told reporters as he prepared to leave New Jersey for an event in Pittsburgh.

The profanity-laced video of Cuomo was published on the right-wing YouTube channel “THAT’S THE POINT with Brandon”.

Cuomo on Tuesday tweeted that he “should be better than the guys baiting me” and that there was “no need to add to the ugliness”.

Trump on Tuesday also belittled his former communications director of 11 days, Anthony Scaramucci, branding his short tenure at the White House a “disaster” and calling the financier “a nervous, neurotic wreck”.

Trump was responding to a reporter who wanted his reaction to multiple public comments from Scaramucci in recent days critical of Trump including during an interview with CNN in which Scaramucci suggested the Republican party might consider nominating another candidate for the 2020 presidential election.

“Anthony is upset because he wanted certain things,” Trump said. “The main thing he wanted was to come back into the administration and as you remember better than I do, it was a disaster.”
