Fifteen people found in lorry on motoryway in southern England arrested – police

Fifteen people were arrested after being found in the back of a lorry on a motorway near the southern English town of Chippenham on Wednesday (November 6) night, police said.

Aged between 16 and 30, all 15 men were arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally, Wiltshire police said in a written statement. One person was taken to hospital but was later released and taken into custody, police said.

Footage filmed in the early hours of Thursday (November 7) showed police officers and emergency services at the scene before the lorry was driven away.

The driver, a man in his 50s said to be from Ireland, was arrested on suspicion of assisting illegal entry into the UK, police said. The nationalities of the people found in the lorry were unclear.
