The Chinese health authorities Saturday said there were reports of 427 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection, 47 deaths and 248 new suspected cases on Friday from 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Among the deaths, 45 were in the central province of Hubei, one in Beijing and one in central China’s Henan Province, according to the National Health Commission.
The latest data indicate that 2,885 patients were cured and discharged from hospital, 288 got out of serious conditions and 10,193 people in close contacts with confirmed patients were released from medical observation on Friday.
As of 24:00 Friday, there were still 37,414 confirmed cases receiving treatment in hospitals, 7,664 of whom were in serious conditions, and 1,418 suspected cases in the 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 79,251, and 2,835 had died of the disease. The total number of discharged patients had amounted to 39,002.
A total of 658,587 people who had close contacts with confirmed cases had been traced and found, 58,233 of whom were still under medical observation.
Hubei Province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, reported 423 new confirmed cases, including 420 in Wuhan, on Friday. Across the province, 2,492 patients were discharged from hospital, including 1,726 in Wuhan, and 45 people died of the disease, including 37 in Wuhan, on the same day.
The number of confirmed cases in Hubei stood at 34,715, including 28,836 in Wuhan and 7,370 cases were in serious conditions in the province, including 6,585 in Wuhan by the end of Friday.
The total number of patients discharged from hospital in Hubei rose to 28,895 up to Friday, including 17,552 in Wuhan, while deaths totaled 2,727, including 2,169 in Wuhan. A total of 66,337 cases of novel coronavirus infection, including 48,557 in Wuhan, had been confirmed in the province by the end of Friday.
With regard to the suspected cases in Hubei, the number increased by 159 on Friday, including 114 in Wuhan, and there were still 1,171 suspected ones, including 788 in Wuhan.
By the end of Friday, 138 confirmed cases had been reported in China’s Hong Kong and Macao Special Autonomous Regions and Taiwan region, with 94 in Hong Kong, including 30 discharged from hospital and two deaths, 10 in Macao, including eight discharged from hospital, and 34 in Taiwan, including nine discharged from hospital and one death.
